Just outside Athens in a moonlit glade, the court of Theseus tumbles into the mischievous world of the fairies and the magic antics begin. Young lovers defy authority and flee the court, only to find themselves caught in a web of illusion and magic in the Athenian woods. All the while a group of simple workmen have written a play. The queen of the fairies falls in love with one of the transformed mechanicals

and all is confused, all is fun. No lovers could be more comically confused, no man a happier ass, and no sprite more delightfully impish than those in this magical tale of wars and weddings, spats and spells, ham actors and histrionics. Join us for this playful romp, as one charmed flower makes for an unforgettable midsummer night full of magic, chaos and love. The Shakespeare Theatre is proud to present one of The Bard's best-loved romantic comedies.
